Grand Imam Hadam, raheemAllah, encouraged students to read the following dua before studying.
Our teachers at Markaz ul-Islami, Bradford, and across the Islamic scholarly field, have taught us to memorise and read this to re-align and focus our intention to the correct purpose. Studying Islam as an act of Ibadah. Search 'Imam Hadad' in reference libraries for a biography.
Ya Fataahu, ya `aleemu iftah lana fat'han qareeban.
Bismillahi rahmaani raheem.
Alhamdulillahi rabbil `alameen, wa sallallahu `ala sayyidinaa
Muhammadin wa `ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallam.
Nuwaytu ta`alluma wat-ta`leema, wat-tadhakuara wat-tadhkeer, wan-naf`a
wal 'intifaa`a, wal'ifaadata wal'istifaadata walhatha `ala
tamassukki bi'kitaabillahi wa sunnati rasoolihi, wad-du`aa ilal hudaa
wad-dalaalata `alal khairi, wabtigaa'i wajhillahi
wa mardaatihi wa qurbihi wathawaabihi subhaanahu wa ta`aala.
All praise to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. And salutations and greetings upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and companions.
I intend to study and teach, take and give a reminder, take and give benefit, take and give advantage, to encourage the holding fast to the book of Allah and the way of his messenger, and calling to guidance and directing towards good hoping for the countenance of Allah and His pleasure, proximity and reward, transcendent is He.
